Day 1
Fianarantsoa – Ambalavao – Ambohitsambo

Embark on an unforgettable journey as we depart from the charming town of Fianarantsoa, heading towards the picturesque city of Ambalavao. Our adventure begins at 9:00 AM with a visit to a traditional lambalandy workshop, where you will witness the intricate art of silk fabric production.
Following this, we will explore the renowned Chan Foui factory, where you can immerse yourself in the fascinating world of wine-making, from vineyard to bottle.

As we continue our hike, the majestic “Ampela Matory,” or “Reclining Woman” mountain, will come into view, offering a stunning backdrop to our journey. We will then visit a local rum distillery, where you can savor the rich flavors of Madagascar’s spirits, followed by a delightful picnic by the serene Mananatagnana River.

After our leisurely meal, we will cross the river in a traditional canoe, allowing you to experience the authentic local way of life. As we traverse the scenic trails, you will discover
the unique architecture of Betsileo villages, adorned with traditional aloalo (wooden tombs) and monuments that tell the stories of the past.

Throughout the day, you will be warmly welcomed by the local community, who will share their vibrant culture through traditional songs such as Horija and Vakodrazana. This immersive
experience will leave you with cherished memories and a deeper understanding of the Betsileo way of life.

As the sun sets, you have the option to spend the night in a cozy bivouac or with a local family, allowing you to fully embrace the warmth and hospitality of Madagascar.

Day 2
Ambohitsambo – Ampiafagna – Ambalavao

After a delightful breakfast, we embark on an enchanting journey to the Nile Crocodile River, where you will have the unique opportunity to observe these magnificent creatures basking
in the sun. Our adventure continues as we arrive in the charming village of Ampiafagna, where the rich tapestry of local life awaits.

Immerse yourself in the vibrant culture of the Betsileo people by participating in their daily activities, such as the traditional art of rice transplantation. This hands-on experience
not only connects you with the land but also offers a glimpse into the time-honored practices that sustain this community.

As we explore further, you will visit a local basketry workshop, where skilled artisans create intricate pieces that reflect the region’s heritage. Here, you can learn about the fascinating
craft of savika, a traditional weaving technique that embodies the spirit of the Betsileo culture.

For lunch, savor a delicious meal prepared by local inhabitants or enjoy a delightful picnic amidst the stunning landscapes that surround you. As we traverse the breathtaking scenery,
you will be captivated by the striking granite formations and the diverse fauna, including the vibrant chameleons and lizards that call this island home.

To conclude our memorable hike, we will take a scenic ride in a traditional zebu cart, allowing you to soak in the beauty of the landscape as we make our way back to our vehicle.
